Some Die Once – Many Die Twice [Part 4]
In Part 4 of our series of Blog Posts from our upcoming book titled “One Way or Another Your Eternal Destination is Guaranteed” we explore the topic of “How Much Love Do You have for Your Children?”
Abba, Father
Some of you who may be reading, might not have children or grandchildren; but some probably do have. If you are among those who have children, do you love them enough to want to see them and be with them forever and ever? That is how much God loves His only begotten Son, and it is also the degree He has for His adopted children—believers:
Romans 8:15
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
Abba in that verse is the Aramaic term that a child uses to affectionately address his father. Saying “Abba” (similar to daddy) expresses full confidence and trust between the parent and child. For a mother and father, it becomes a shared responsibility to teach, support, and love the child. Parents surely want the next generation to have the relationship and unity with the Savior that they have. Upon the moment a believer is saved from wrath and for eternal life (Romans 5:9), he or she realizes our most important possession—Eternal life! That raises the question, “What’s the most important inheritance we can leave for our children?” And the answer is: “Eternal life!”
What to Tell your Children?
Joel 1:3
Tell your children about it, let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
What is it a parent should tell their children? They should come to tell them the same thing believers say when they are asked how they can prove they are saved. Believers say that what they know and believe is true: the Gospel message: That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Cor. 15:3-4). Children should be told that how believing this results in a life changing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 4:9b, 10b
“And teach them to your children and your grandchildren”…
“Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.”
Inheritance
In speaking of an inheritance, a shadow of heaven is given:
Deuteronomy 11:9
“and that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD swore to give your fathers, to them and their descendants, ‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’”
1 Peter 1:4
to an inheritance incorruptible [imperishable] and undefiled and that those not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
Love your Children
How much do your children love you? God loves us and wants us to love Him with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength (Mark 12:30). He loved us so much He gave His only begotten Son.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Death is Indisputable
The certainty of forthcoming death for nonbelievers is indisputable. The few in Scripture whom God took up like Enoch and Elijah differ from Christ’s resurrection in that the Word does not say they have been glorified like Jesus. Deuteronomy 34:5-6 confirms that Moses died, was buried, and that his grave has not been found. Other than these few, others did, in fact, die. But only one Man has been permanently resurrected from death to still be alive and glorified—so far.
Only Christ is the first fruits of the first resurrection (1 Cor. 15:20). Our long-ago predecessors, who were only human beings, have proven death to be guaranteed. A possible exception is found in Matthew 27:52-53, but the bodies of the saints who were raised from tombs were seen after the Savior’s resurrection. The Bible does not tell us whether they died again or went to heaven.
We also read of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead in John 11:43-44. Then in John 12:10 we learn the chief priests plotted to put the raised Lazarus back to death, but we know not whether they succeeded in killing him, nor whether he later died a natural death. We read in God’s Word that only Christ has experienced glorification thus far in human history (Philippians 3:20-21).
Reincarnation
In various religions, re-embodiment—the belief that a person returns after dying to live in a new body—is taught by some men. But this reincarnation is not discussed in the Holy Bible. This is not in God’s Word. Hebrews 9:27 and other verses flatly deny reincarnation.
Hebrews 9:27
And it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.
Please pray that people will come to the knowledge of the Truth before it’s too late, and love their children enough to not suffer the Second Death.
