According to Warren Henderson, in his book: INFIDELITY and LOYALTY – A Devotional Study of Ezekiel and Daniel, the last 6 chapters of Daniel “pertain to future world empires, the Tribulation Period and the Kingdom Age and provide telescoping detail of particular events within future kingdoms“. (pg. 306 para. 4)
Warren further lists (pg. 308 para. 3-5) that:
“Daniel 2-6 – The prophetic history of four future Gentile empires, including their moral characteristics, distinguishing features, failures, and their final judgment; this culminates with the setting up of Christ’s kingdom.”
Daniel 7-11 – The prophetic history of the four final Gentile empires, but with a divine focus on their relationship with and treatment of God’s covenant people.”
Daniel 12 – The conclusion and prophetic announcement of the Antichrist’s destruction, the resurrection of the just to enjoy Christ’s kingdom with a refined and restored Jewish nation and the resurrection of the wicked to everlasting torment.”
We also learn from his commentary that “Babylon is a symbol of the religious world throughout Scripture” (pg 311 para. 6) which I think would include today’s world!
Today’s religious world isn’t any different than in Babylonian times. Many have forgotten to seek God’s face and pray. Prayer seems to have taken a very low position in a Christian’s life when it should be the first thing we turn to every day. Our Lord God loves us unconditionally and wants to communicate with us. We talk to Him in prayer and He talks to us through His Word!
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (NKJV)
Just think about it. God the Father made this sacrifice and Jesus His Son willingly went to the cross, died a torturous death, so that we can be forgiven of our sins and receive the gift of eternal life, if we are willing!
How does God define “sin”?
The 10 Commandments say – not to steal, cheat, lie, murder, and more. Most people would say that they are good people, and have never murdered or stolen anything so they should go to heaven!
Unfortunately, that is a lie of the enemy = Satan!
Like “Oh, it’s just a white lie!”
Doesn’t matter! God is a just Judge!
OR
I only took a pencil or paperclip!
Doesn’t matter, it’s still taking something that didn’t belong to you or me even if of little to no value!
You may say that if we apply this STANDARD then NO ONE can qualify for heaven and everyone will go to the lake of fire! And you are right!
God says in Romans 3:10 “As it is written There is no one righteous no not one.”
BUT THERE IS GOOD NEWS!
Jesus said in
Matthew 4:17 “….Repent.”
Mark 1:15 “….Repent.”
Luke 13:3 + 5 “….Repent.”
We are all given the opportunity to repent of any wrongdoings against God’s laws, ask God for forgiveness and turn away from sins; believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose on the third day; invite Jesus into our heart, and receive the gift of eternal life!
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” AMEN
Looks like I got off topic here! But then all of God’s word is important. Even though it’s important to know the signs and understand the Book of Revelation and Daniel, most important is to spread the Gospel!
