Some Die Once – Many Die Twice [Part 24]

In Part 24 of our series of Blog Posts from our upcoming book titled “One Way or Another Your Eternal Destination is Guaranteed” the question today looks at: The Significance of Looking Ahead”

Saints

If you are an unbelieving person and have read to this point in this book, maybe you are considering making the decision to accept Jesus as your Savior. If this is so, take a look at what lies ahead:

Some might think that only the twelve apostles could be saints. This is not true.

Upon the moment we first believe, a process called sanctification is initiated. Thus believers are called saints. The sanctification begins with three distinct, instant, dramatic life changing events:

  1. The new believer is cleansed of his sins by the shed blood of Jesus Christ
    (Isaiah 1:18; 1 Corinthians 6:11 with Romans 3:25; 1 John 1:7).
  2. The Holy Spirit of God instantly indwells and seals the believer and is able to help him to stay closer to the right path (Proverbs 3:6; John 1:33; Matthew 3:11; Ephesians 1:13).
  3. The believer is cleansed by the blood, washed by the Word of God, and begins to discern God’s intent, meaning and purpose in the Bible (1 Corinthians 2:14).

Righteousness in Christ/Sanctification

Another way of saying it: A saint receives positional righteousness in Christ at conversion and the process of practical sanctification begins. The sanctification progression continues as the believer grows in his walk with the Lord. We come to know God better and love Him more as the relationship is strengthened. Christians became saints because, by coming to know God they repented. Therefore, having faith in His truth, they believed. By their belief they are instantly seen by God as being righteous in Christ. The process of sanctification makes saints grow to become more Christ-like. As the sanctification proceeds, they become more mature in their walk with the Lord. The development will not be finalized until being taken into heaven.

Significance of Looking Ahead

We need to achieve this sainthood before time runs out and it is too late. We are all sinners. Regarding the second death, the Lord Jesus said:

Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” John 8:24

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended [attained perfection]; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, Philippians 3:13

Prepare to meet thy God. Amos 4:12b

In Summary

God is a just Judge. When we trust Him and accept His Son as our Savior, life will be forever.

Time is short, yet time does not stop. The message of this book is to stress the urgency to listen to God in His Word. The time is near:

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom… Psalm 111:10a

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

H.A. Ironside quotes:

“I have been learning all along my pilgrim journey that the more my heart is taken up with Christ, the more do I enjoy practical deliverance from sin’s power, and the more do I realize what it is to have the love of God shed abroad in that heart by the Holy Spirit given to me, as the earnest of the glory to come.”
