Last week we wrote about “Repentance”. We thought this would be a good time to draw your attention to our book “Considering Wisdom” chapter 4 titled “Admit and Repent”.

Here is an excerpt:

Admit and Repent

Technological advancements have accelerated the rate of change in society. In the last thirty years, we have witnessed more development than in all of history combined. We are seeing robots that carry on conversations, automobiles capable of driving themselves, stealth aircraft, airplanes without a pilot onboard (drones), global positioning systems (GPS) that keep people from getting lost in the wilderness, smart phones, high-definition televisions, and much more. Likewise, as the population grows, people incorrectly think we have evolved into something stronger and wiser than those who lived before us.

But here is what God’s Word says:

“There is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:10b).

Henry Ironside said, “If it is new it is not true; if it is true it is not new.”

Electricity has always been here. It just took a long time for humans to harness it.

We’re all unique; we’re different, just like everyone else. Before going any further, the authors of this book admits that he is different, just like everyone else. And the writer you’re reading is a sinner, just like everyone else.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Quoting Randy Amos, “When a person becomes a true believer it does not mean he is sinless. What truly happens though is that he does sin less.

It is a tremendously fearful thing for people to die with unforgiven sins, because the wrath and anger of God will be poured out on the unsaved during the Great Tribulation. But the saved people will not be subjected to such torture:

Much more then, having now been justified [justified to be saved due to sincerely repenting] by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. (Romans 5:9)

With tremendous thanks to give to God for being saved from the eternal Lake of Fire, and with the help of the indwelling Spirit of God, believers are more readily aware that they are being tempted to offend others and to sin against God’s moral commands. Upon the moment of being tempted, the Spirit reminds them to picture the cross and remember what tremendous price the Savior paid to save us. He bought us with His own blood:

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood. (Revelation 1:5b)

The church of God which He purchased with His own blood. (Acts 20:28b)

The Church that Jesus Christ purchased is not a building. The Church is the universal Church made up of all believers on the planet earth.

Eventually, when we realize we’re doing something hurtful to others, when our hearts are convicted, it drives us to finally submit and admit to self—and to God—we need sound spiritual influence. …
