Last week we discussed “Who is the Son of Man”. Today we will continue looking at “Who is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last” going to the Book of Revelation.

Revelation 1:7-8
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 22:13
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

Christ

The Revelation is from Christ and about Christ. We read in Revelation 1:7 that He (Jesus) will be seen by all at His Second Coming, whether then or during His Millennial reign or at the Great White Throne of judgment.

In Revelation 1:7 we read “even they who pierced Him”.

Who was pierced?

We all remember that Jesus was pierced at the cross!

Verse 7 is referring to Jesus. He, Jesus, is speaking in 1:8 and 22:13.

Let’s have a quick look at the Revelation Study Guide “Digging Deep into the Revelation of Jesus Christ” page 218 and quote the commentary on 22:13:

**The three designations of verse 13 are virtually equivalent in meaning. By applying them to Himself, Christ claims unlimited, eternal equality with God (Revelation 1:8, Revelation 1:17; Revelation 2:8).** Philippians 2:6 agrees: [Christ Jesus] who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God.

In Revelation 1:8, 17, and 2:8 Jesus reveals Himself as the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the Almighty, the First and the Last.

Almighty God

And we know that Jesus Christ is the equal Almighty God with the Father which is confirmed again in,

Revelation 15:3
-…..the song of the Lamb, saying “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! ;

Revelation 16:7 (Jesus, again, is being referred to as God Almighty)
-…  “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.” ;

Revelation 19:13
He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God….

Revelation 19:15b-c
And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
, Revelation 19:11).

From the Book of Revelation, and probably other places in the Scriptures, we learn that Jesus is Almighty God, equal with God the Father; and He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

What a blessing it is that the Holy Spirit opens our understanding. Praise God!

Do you agree that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last?
