Revelation 4:6-7
Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.

Verse 6 and 7 have quite a bit to unpack. We will start with verse 6 today and continue with verse 7 next week.

What’s the sea of glass like crystal?
William MacDonald explains: “The sea of glass like crystal tells us that the throne is located in a place undisturbed by the relentless temptations of this world, or by the opposition of the wicked, who are like a troubled sea.”

Revelation 15:2
And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.”

Revelation 21:21
The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

The sea of glass, undisturbed, perfect, something to look forward to!

 Ephesians 4:14
that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,”

In Ephesians 4:7-16  Paul is talking about the spiritual gifts that are being poured out. In verse 12 he specifically points out that the gifts of evangelizing, pastoring and teaching is: “for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,“.
We, the saints, received the Holy Spirit and by studying God’s Word we will be equipped to discern the dangers of deception! In this world, today, we will come across false teachers who sound like true believers by talking enough truth to make it attractive. Watch out! Use God’s Word to make sure that what they preach is the Truth. We are to check whether someone speaks the Truth or a different kind of god!

When we find out, we are to avoid them and to withdraw ourselves from such!
Proverbs 4:14-16
14 Do not enter the path of the wicked,
And do not walk in the way of evil.
15 Avoid it, do not travel on it;
Turn away from it and pass on.
16 For they do not sleep unless they have done evil;
And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall.

Romans 16:17
Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.

Matthew 7:13
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

May we walk in the Truth, stay on the narrow path, and follow the Lord Jesus Christ’s direction for our path to eternity!
